January 2026 OP United Women in Faith Climate Corner
Several months ago we made a commitment to reduce plastic and waste by washing tableware and coffee cups. We all know that we could be better stewards of our planet and find ways to lower our carbon footprint.
Judith Enck is founder of Beyond Plastics, professor at Bennington College, and author. Her book The Problem with Plastic just came out in December. The emphasis is “how we can save ourselves and our planet before it is too late.” From the history of plastics to real solutions, Judith Enck has a written a great resource.
Also, continue to learn from these website: beyondplastics.org, nature.org and UWFaith.org. To eliminate plastic laundry jugs, check out Blueland.org. They produce concentrated tablets for laundry, dishwasher, hand soap and toilet bowl cleaner. No plastic! Those laundry detergent sheets available is still a form of plastic, increasing micro-plastic in the water and on the clothing.
2026 Make a difference. Women gathering coming soon.
